The Setup

Tongits is played by exactly three players using a standard 52-card deck. The dealer distributes 12 cards to each non-dealer player and 13 cards to the dealer. The remaining cards form the draw pile (stock) in the center.

Objective

Your goal is to reduce your hand to zero cards by forming valid card combinations — either three or more cards of the same rank (a Set) or three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (a Sequence/Run).

Your Turn

On each turn, draw the top card from the stock or pick up the card discarded by the previous player. Then you must discard one card from your hand. You may also "meld" valid combinations to the table at any time during your turn.

Dumping (Saksak)

You can add cards from your hand to melds already on the table — yours or another player's — to reduce your hand count. This is called saksak or dumping and is a key tactical tool in Tongits.

Winning — Tongits!

If you empty your entire hand, you call "Tongits!" and win the round immediately. This is the highest possible win and qualifies you for the Tongits bonus payout on Jellibet cash tables.

Winning — Fight/Sapak

If the stock runs out or a player calls "Fight," all players reveal their remaining cards. The player with the lowest combined card value wins. Aces count as 1 point, face cards as 10 points each.

Key point: Only cards that form valid combinations (Sets or Sequences) are laid down and score zero points. All remaining cards in your hand score their face value. The player with the lowest total score wins a Fight round on Jellibet. This is why reducing deadwood — unmelded cards — is the central skill in Tongits.
